Clouds over Bruges. Even cars can't spoil the view here.
Wind, rain, sun... Better to close that coat and fetch some gloves.
Brussels main square. Dogs are being walked right in the middle of the stone-molded squares. I wonder what happens to the square after dogs go about their business in the middle of it. Not half as pleasant it must be after that, I imagine.
Grand Palace. Doesnt matter how far I've tried to step away - couldn't catch the top tower in the frame. Pity. I like the small, hardly noticable clock on the left tower. Somehow, they must have thought it wasn't as important to people on the
Enjoying a cloudy but beautifull never the less afternoon in Bruges. My wonderful traveling companion has a light hand when it comes to taking pictures of me. A fine quality, that adds to the already great amount of enjoyment his company brings me.
Stormy weather in Brussels. I pray it doesn't face the same fate as Londed did, not more than a few weeks ago. Although, to tell the truth, Im quite tempted to see how those wonderful buildings would look surrounded by water, with boats floating up an
It's about to rain. I sure hope those peaks don't get rusty.
When the clouds are gone, the sky is filled with white airplane lines, sometimes it looks like airplanes are racing each other, or racing towards one another, only to crash in one big explosion over the earth.
Carriages are a usual thing in Belgium, apparently. Not for fun only - but for public transport as well. No cabs around? Take a carriage!
Bruges is green even in winter. Seems like green grass covers everything, and often attemps to spill out from the dull stony streets into the cold river.
Bruges is wonderful, the city has everything - even it's own self-proclaimed vampire, who is supposedly 172 years old, his name is Willy, and guests are welcome at his old mansion every Sunday after sunset.
Wonder if they repaint it often. Although, with great enough amounts of lighting you don't really need to worry about paint.
Wonderful lighting.Experience enhanced only by great time spent there.Eating Belgian fries must be what heaven tastes like. Belgian waffles with Belgian chocolate are diliciously amazing, as well, oh and Belgian beer...wait, what were we talking about?
Belgium is quite chilly at night, but still plenty of tourists patrol the streets, looking for adventure and hitmen being thrown down the tower to their deaths.
Green, blue and red are the most commonly seen colors in Belgium. Green flora, blue sky and blue castle peaks, red house roofs. Those should have been their flag colors.
Who knew that wet, covered in moss roof can look so good.
Churches are an important part of Belgium - every village has one. They say you can always see a church, no matter where you are in Belgium, and you can travel throughout the whole land by following one high peak after another.
The swans come to windows and start making noise. Then people look out and throw bread. It's quite funny, really.
A strange establishment, I can't imagine what it is that they serve in this restaurant, and unfortunately, I wasn't brave enough to find it out myself.
Yes, I know what you're thinking... People always spoil a good picture! (And Im not an exception to that rule)
Decided how far the river goes outside Bruges. Apparently, quite far. Barely found my way back into the city.
Edited a little.
Well, I think most of the people would recognize this square if they saw the movie "In Bruges". If not, perhaps they might want to watch the movie, it's awesome!
Green moss covered trees - my favorite sight in the North so far.
There's a star above the tower... Looks fitting to the picture somehow, as if guiding our way to the main sight of Bruges.
Sharp peaks - a trademark of Belgium, it seems. Gothic doesn't always mean grim... Something that you learn once you visit gorgeous Northern cities like Bruges.
A monument to, what seems to be, naked women, men on bicycles, lazy children spitting out water and old people.I suppose, it is made in a fashion so that no one is left out and that the monument be unique and unrepeated at the same time.
Doors are a lot smaller, so are the windows... house is very small itself - can it be that it's a house for belgian gnomes? :)
You too see the white ray of light coming from the top of the eiffel tower? I can hardly imagine what it is for. Perhaps, it's their own little Eye of Sauron up there.
This is the view from mt. Monmartre. There is a large, white-stone molded church, too. Half of Paris visible from here, esepcially beautiful at night, with all the little lights of the big city...Who needs to go up the Eiffel tower after this?
And the church.Quite simple inside, I like that. No horrifying statues and images of demonic creatures on this one, no gargoyles.I wonder what the horses are for though, and why are they green?Perhaps, I know too little about Catolicism to understand.
Robots in the shop window. Strange! Considering it was a hair salon. Paris is a progressive city, one day we might see those little guys meddling in people's hair while telling inapropriate anecdotes.
Not a very successfull shot, but how can I not post one of the all-famous Notre Dame de Paris? So here it is.
The vitrage inside the Notre Dame.Honestly, I expected the whole church building to be a lot smaller.Instead it is large, very detailed and just amazingly beautiful!High ceilings, painted walls and marble floors.A place that truly encourages prayer.
This gothic church is definitely a must-see. Must see, must pray, must photograph! The memory will remain with you forever.
So many vitrages. Wonderful. And even the evil gargoiles outside on towers don't spoil the impression of greatness and sanctity.
A quite strange salon with stuffed animals and barbies...without head. Instead, they have a chicken head sewed on. In the morning it turned out that the owner of this shop is a woman. As if the place wasn't creepy enough already.
Renting out my friend's scarf for my beautiful smile. Baha! Im funny.
I decided to try out the glasses again, perhaps I thought they would serve my eyes better if I gathered my hair into a pony tail. What a rediculous assumption! And of course, it did not prove to be right at all.
So, having taken off the glasses I felt much better, and looked much better, too. Ready for new adventures I went about my merry way.
They only allowed us to see the inside of Versailles Palace and yard from outside the gate. Treating us like common peasant crowd! What rudeness. Needless to say, we found our way in anyway, without paying the rediculous 15 euros.
I loved the Versailles palace, mostly for its beautiful gardens, labyrinths and fountains. And as you can see, I love me some reflections! Alice's curiousity of mirrors never surprised me, perhaps, due to the latter.
Seems like the sky surface is flat, and if you wanted, you could step onto them clouds, and walk and jump, as if on solid surface! I'd like to think angels get to do that. Yes, they definitely can.
This picture should be named "Alice in Wonderland". If you are looking for the bushes of painted red roses, don't. That's not what makes the picture so Alicy or Wonderlandish. It's the silliness of it, and the unusualness.
And more Wonderlandish pictures. You could say, Im smiling and slowly disappearing, much like the head of a Cheshire cat.
Poseydon? Perhaps. Or, to those least romantic ones amongst us, just a naked bronze man with a couple of fat flying children.
Versailles, doubled. Even if a little twisted, I find that often the reflection is still more beautiful and magical, somehow.
Looking upon the fields and forests, the waters and the clouds reflecting in their surface one can never dare question the existance of a power much bigger, greater, wiser than oneself.Suddenly nothing exists, and everything exists at the same time.
Versailles is a beautiful place. Even in winter, evergreen and breathtaking. Lakes, gardens and castles all for the pleasure of great kings and queens, including beloved by everyone king Jeoffr...I mean Louis the XIV.
If it wasn't for the cold weather, I would take a dip in the waters myself. And as everyone knows French people are most liberal when it comes to these sorts of things, Im sure no one would say a word.
